Montana Campgrounds Kootenai National Forest

Dorr Skeels Campground is located in the Three Rivers Ranger District of the Kootenai National Forest, which is in Northwestern Montana.

The campground is in a scenic location close to the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness and is on the shores of Bull Lake.

There is a nice swimming area, as well as a boat ramp and an accessible dock.

The campground is surrounded by lush evergreen trees - cedar, larch and pine. 



About the Campsite:


Dorr Skeels Campground offers basic facilities, including picnic tables, campfire rings with grates, accessible vault toilets, and drinking water.

The fee for this campground is $7 per night, and your Golden Age Passport or Interagency Senior Pass will give you a 50% discount. 

There are no hookups at this campground.

A host is available to answer question and provide information - they also have firewood available.

Camp sites at Door Skeels Campground cannot be reserved - they are first come, first served.

You will find rv camping sites here, as well as tent sites.



About the Campground


Door Skeels Campground consists of 8 sites, 5 of which are tent only campsites.  The maximum recommended trailer length is 32 feet.

You will find a nice boat ramp and accessible dock, as well as a swimming area.  Fishing is for brook, rainbow, cutthroat and bull trout, kokanee salmon, large mouth bass, mountain whitefish, and perch.

Pets are allowed here, but must be on a leash.

This campground is managed from May to September, but is open all year, depending on the weather.

There is a security gate that is closed every night from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am.

The elevation here is 2300 feet



Getting there:


Directions from Troy - go 3 miles east on highway 2, then go south on highway 56 for 13 miles - turn right on forest road 1117 and go to the campground.
