Dutch Oven Chicken
So Tasty and So Easy

This yummy Dutch oven chicken contains only 3 ingredients - chicken, 2 kinds of cream soup and fresh mushrooms. An easy and scrumptious recipe that will please everyone and they will be begging for seconds.

When I make this dish, people think I have worked for hours preparing it - little do they know!

Ingredients

16 pieces of chicken - your choice

2 cans cream of chicken soup

1 can cream of mushroom soup

1 soup can of water or milk

8 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced

vegetable oil



Equipment

12 or 14 inch cast iron Dutch oven

charcoal chimney starter or lighter fluid

charcoal briquettes

Dutch oven lid lifter

heavy leather gloves (welder's gloves are good)

extra pan to put chicken in temporarily

Dutch oven table

can opener, rubber spatula, long-handled fork and tongs






  • Step 1 - Grease or spray the sides and bottom of the Dutch oven. Put a small amount of oil in the bottom and heat it to medium. Brown the chicken on both sides and season with salt and pepper to your taste.
  • Step 2 - Remove the chicken and saute the mushrooms in the oil for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Step 3 - Put chicken back in the pot - add soup and water. Put the lid on the Dutch oven.
  • Step 4 - Bake for 45 minutes with 9 or 10 coals underneath and 16 or 17 on the top. Using heavy gloves, turn the pot and lid in different directions every 15 minutes.
