Lolo National Forest Campgrounds


The Lolo National Forest is located in West Central Montana and encompasses 2 million acres. Four wilderness areas are in this forest - Scapegoat Wilderness, Bob Marshall Wilderness, Welcome Creek Wilderness and Mission Mountains Wilderness.  Lolo Forest contains huge western red cedar trees.

 

There are 6 ranger districts to manage the forest service campgrounds:

Ninemile Ranger District

  • Kreis Pond Campground - 17 miles northwest of Nine mile - 7 sites - no charge - shady in the trees, popular for mountain biking

Rock Creek Ranger District

  • Bitterroot Flat Campground - 28 miles southeast of Clinton - 15 sites - fee area - in lots of trees next to Rock Creek
  • Dalles Campground - 19 miles southeast of Clinton - 10 sites - fee area - in trees above Rock Creek
  • Grizzly Campground - 16.5 miles southeast of Clinton - 9 sites - fee area - in lots of trees near Rock Creek
  • Harry’s Flat Campground - 22 miles southeast of Clinton - 18 sites - fee area - spacious sites in lots of trees next to Rock Creek
  • Norton Campground - 16 miles southeast of Clinton - 12 sites - fee area - in grass and pines next to Rock Creek
  • Siria Campground - 33 miles southeast of Clinton - 29 sites - fee area - in large trees, rough road

Seeley Lake Ranger District

  • Big Larch Campground - 1 mile north of Seeley Lake - 48 sites - fee area - on the east side of Seeley lake, but no view of the lake
  • Big Nelson Campground - 19 miles north east of Ovando - 4 sites - no charge - Heavily forested sites on Coopers Lake
  • Lake Alva Campground - 11 miles north of Seeley Lake - 39 sites - fee area - on the east shore of Lake Alva, but no view of the lake
  • Lake Inez Campground - 9 miles north of Seeley Lake - 5 sites - no charge - in heavy trees next to the lake
  • Lakeside Campground - 10 miles north of Seeley Lake - 5 sites - fee area - on the south end of Lake Alva
  • Monture Creek Campground - 20 miles northeast of Clearwater Junction - 5 sites - no charge - in large trees along the creek
  • River Point Campground - 2 miles west of Seeley Lake - 27 sites - fee area - short walk to the lake, some sites on Clearwater River
  • Seeley Lake Campground - 3 miles west of Seeley Lake - 29 sites - fee area - on the west side of Seeley Lake in heavy trees
